Auto-updating kit JavaScript: Get more with less republishing

Whenever we’ve announced new web font serving features or performance improvements, we’ve always closed with a request to republish all of your kits.

This was usually followed by a flurry of requests for a “republish all kits” button and a few grumbles. We get it. We don’t like going through all our kits and republishing them, either.

So, we listened, and we did you one better. As of Monday, 2 May, the kit JavaScript is auto-updating. Never again will you need to republish to get the latest features and improvements to font serving; your websites will receive the newest version of the kit JavaScript automatically.

And best of all: you don’t need to republish to get this change. All font serving has already been updated to the new version.

Auto-updating only applies to the kit JavaScript. Everything else about your kits – the fonts, the subsets, and all other settings – still stays the same until you republish.

Let us know at support@typekit.com if you have any questions or concerns about this change.
