Upcoming speaking events: June 2015
The Typekit team has a full travel schedule this summer. We’ll keep you posted here as our speaking event schedule is finalized — and to kick things off today, here’s where you’ll find some of us in June. We hope to see you!
There are tickets available for both of these events at the time of posting.
An Event Apart San Diego
8-10 June | San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina, San Diego, California
Registration
Tim Brown is at An Event Apart San Diego next week, presenting “Typesetting Body Text Like a Pirate Jedi with a DeLorean.” In this talk, Tim will explore the challenges of typesetting body text for the web.
It’s a complicated, expensive process, and it contradicts tenets of typography that are widely considered fundamental to good design. But doing it well fortifies your brand, lends authenticity to what you say, and clarifies your messages. And body text can act as an anchor, making other design decisions easier. In this new session, Tim Brown welcomes you to hone productive typesetting practices — with many specific tips, as well as a solid overview of the scope, dependencies, and effects of our typographic decisions.
Breaking Borders
15 June | Reading University, Reading, Berkshire
Free Registration
Typekit designer extraordinaire Jake Giltsoff speaks about “A practical guide to using SVGs on the web” at Breaking Borders in Reading.
Jake will talk about the benefits of using Scalable Vector Graphics, from easy editing to tiny file sizes, as well as best practices for implementing them on your website. The event is free, but be sure to reserve your ticket!
