Sites We Like: Hex Invaders & Playmatic

Good news: the week is just about over, and you have our permission to indulge with a distraction or two. Here are a couple fun games to get you started — just call it typographic research if you get called out.

Hex Invaders

If you’ve spent more hours than you’d like to admit thinking about colors in RGB, Hex Invaders might be just the diversion you need. As advertised, “The world needs your typically useless skill of hex code knowledge to prevent the invasion!” — and with Brandon Grotesque gracing your battlefield, how can you refuse? (Your author destroyed a mere 46 invaders.)

Playmatic app

For those who aren’t quite ready for hex codes, Playmatic App is designed to entertain babies with bright colors and fun shapes — without annoying their caretakers. Nimbus Sans Condensed makes a tidy header for the Playmatic name, with other header text in Lexia (which wouldn’t look out of place on an old-school wooden block toy, either) and the paragraphs in regular-width Nimbus Sans.

That’s it for this week; share sites you like in the comments!
