Sites We Like: Break Conference, Confab, & BDConf

We’re thick into conference season over here, and happened to notice a handful of sites using some pretty sweet fonts. Is there some sort of correlation between November conferences and great type?

Break Conference

Break Conference website

A brand new conference on design, Break is happening next week over in Belfast. We love the smooth design of this website, with bold white blocks over the deep blue background. Klavika Condensed (and Klavika Display) are stunning header choices, and pair up beautifully with serif Elena. All typefaces are from Process Type Foundry and hosted by Typekit. (Check out our bring-your-own-license hosting option for more information.)

Confab Higher Ed

Confab website

Confab is a two-day conference covering all aspects of content strategy, and so popular that they organize multiple events throughout the year; next week’s conference in Atlanta focuses on content strategy for higher education institutions. The website features a pairing of two sans serifs: Prenton in an elegant light weight for headlines, with Proxima Nova for body text.

Breaking Development

BDConf website

BDConf has already passed us by this year, but the website is still worthy of a quick type study — just look at that bold Futura PT header. It’s balanced nicely by Adobe Garamond in the body text, which is sized large enough that the serif’s character really comes through and adds texture to the page.

That’s it for this week; share sites you like in the comments!

Break, or Broken, should be the name for Typekit. Horrible. Nothing works right.

      Hi Kim,

We’re sorry you’re having trouble using Typekit! We wrote back to your support email this morning; please follow up with our support team there to figure out why your fonts are not working.

      Thank you,
