Typekit is a proud sponsor of Bike to Work Day 2013, which will take place on Thursday, May 9.  An annual event, Bike to Work Day promotes healthier lifestyles both athletically and environmentally.  This is Typekit’s second year as a gold sponsor, and we’re pleased to be contributing to the community effort for a greener Bay Area.

You can expect a couple of the treats along the road, if you’re biking to work in one of the nine Bay Area counties on Thursday May 9th.   On most commuter routes, there will be Energizer Stations handing out refreshments and surprise giveaways in the morning.  Keep your eyes open for Typekit bikers at the Energizer Stations nearest the Adobe Typekit office (4th and Townsend or Civic Center).

Pedal by early to receive a free “musette” goody bag or a larger “tote” for the Bicycle Coalition members. Select stations will be open again in the evening for the commute home, in addition to a happy hour from 5:00-8:00pm at the Oldtown Oakland.

And be sure you pledge to ride beforehand, in order to be eligible for giveaways.

Entretipos

Typekit is proud to be a sponsor of Entretipos, a new one-day typography conference in Barcelona.  The conference will hold four morning workshops, covering typography as embroidery, lithographic printing, creating glyphs, and Copperplate letter expansion. The afternoon will be filled with several presentations by type designers and other visual designers.  Typekit is excited to help make the first Entretipos conference happen!

The event will take place in the Elisava School in the heart of Barcelona on Saturday, April 20. As of right now, there are still tickets available for select portions of the day! Register through the Entretipos website.

typo_sf_2013_contrast_logo_bigTypekit is proud to be a leading sponsor of FontShop’s TYPO San Francisco 2013, a two-day conference covering “more than just typography — it’s design, culture, society with a little bit of kerning.” The TYPO SF theme this year is contrast: cultural, visual, and everything in between. An excellent lineup of speakers has been invited to reflect on this theme, and we’re excited to hear what they have to say. Typekit is represented on the speaker list by Adobe VP and former Typekit CEO Jeff Veen, Typekit engineer Sean McBride, and Typekit alum Mandy Brown.

The event will take place in the Lam Research Theater at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts starting at 9am on Thursday, April 11. As of right now, there are still tickets available! Register on Eventbrite.

We’re joining our colleagues at the San Francisco Adobe office, and moving out of our Mission St space with a bang. Come celebrate with us one last time: join us for drinks, food, and music on Thursday, March 29th, at 7:00pm. As we say farewell, we’ll also welcome the new tenant — our friends at True Ventures.

Please RSVP; we want to make sure we have enough drinks to go around!

Typekit is proud to once again host the San Francisco chapter of Creative Mornings at our headquarters in the Mission. This week’s speaker is Cori Johnson, Hollywood native and designer at Rolling Orange, an agency whose clients include Princeton, Stanford, and the New York Philharmonic. Cori also has two solid years of experience in unemployment and job hunting, and has read countless articles about resume fluffing, cover letter writing, interview survival, dealing with rejection, salary negotiation, and other nightmares. She dreams of a world where job seekers and job creators alike can survive the hiring process without going insane.

The event is free, and breakfast is on us. But be sure to RSVP as space is limited. We hope to see you there!

Typekit is proud to host the West coast premiere of Linotype: The Film, a feature-length documentary centered around the Linotype type casting machine. Called the “Eighth Wonder of the World” by Thomas Edison, the Linotype revolutionized printing and society. The film tells the surprisingly emotional story of the people connected to the Linotype and how it impacted the world.

Director Doug Wilson will be on hand to answer questions after the screening. Arrive early for drinks sponsored by Typekit. Tickets are on sale now, but space is limited, so act fast! The first screening has sold out, but tickets for a second screening are on sale now.

Typekit is proud to once again host the San Francisco chapter of Creative Mornings at our headquarters in the Mission.
