Coming Soon: Fonts from Monotype Imaging
September 24, 2012
Update: Please read the Update on Monotype fonts post.
Since we started Typekit, we’ve worked hard to build a library of the world’s most important, useful, and hardworking fonts. In that time, we’ve been adding fonts weekly — yet there has been one foundry in particular with whom we’ve been eager to partner.
That’s why we’re very happy to announce that we’ve partnered with Monotype Imaging to offer some of their best fonts on Typekit.
Everywhere you go in the world today — whether you realize it or not — you see typefaces from Monotype. Soon, we’ll be adding over 1,000 of those fonts to our service, available as an upgrade to any Typekit plan. That means you’ll have access to some of the world’s most historically important fonts, including the complete families of Helvetica Neue, Avenir, Univers, ITC Garamond, Frutiger, and many more.
We will also be offering the Adobe Originals type collection via the Monotype Fonts.com web font service, with all the features and functionality they offer.
It’s a remarkable partnership, and we couldn’t be happier about it. As we get closer to launching, we’ll have more details to post here on our blog — so stay tuned.

I really love Avenir Next Ultralight and Helvetica Neue Ultralight.
Okay, one recommendation – probably you are already on it: How about Terminal Design? They have the Vanity Fair font – ansolutely my favourite.

Very exciting! One question: How soon is soon? Is it a question of weeks, or months?

Does the upgrade cost extra on top of our plans? Or will it be added as additional available fonts at no extra charge?

Really need more info on this. Currently I still use webfonts.fonts.com for the monotype fonts but I rather abandon them completely. Especially since I’m an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber. Any ETA? Will it be included in the ACC subscription too?

Too bad you give us no statement and leave us in the dark. Please answer some of the question. This would be definitely a reason to switch to typekit.
Thanks.

I’m excited for this partnership to unfold. I recently registered with fonts.com to play around with some of the more classic Monotype faces, such as Avenir, Univers, and Frutiger, on the web. Unfortunately, I found their embedding method a lot less usable than Typekit’s. Typekit really does make it easy to include type in my projects.
Like everyone else here, I’m anxiously awaiting news regarding when these typefaces will be available through typekit.
Thanks for making the web a better place for typography.

Oh, I wish to get my hands on Avenir NOW! Any more deets? Or is this like a year off into the future?

ITC Avant Garde. It’s the reason i’m not using typekit. webfonts.fonts.com at the moment has the upperhand but at nearly 3 times the cost.
This partnership will make the market more competitive and i’d seriously consider typekit.
Can we have a rough timeline?

Add mine to the voices asking “When?” I have some big projects coming and need to plan ahead for my webtype solution. Can you give us ANY more info on the status of this new offering? Much appreciated.
